Fight For Literacy was founded in San Jose, California by high school seniors Arvind Sankar, and Amit Tallapragada (us)! We realized that most kids in America like ourselves, take the education system we have for granted. Most of us don’t realize that in many third world rural locations, many children fight for a chance just to go to school. We formed this organization to give every child the necessary supplies to have a fighting chance of going to school.
Our Mission:
Fight For Literacy’s mission is to end illiteracy in rural areas by collecting donations and distributing backpacks with school supplies to children in need. With the help of people around the world, we are able to supply many children in poverty the materials they need to have a fruitful education.
How/Why:
Fight For Literacy functions entirely off of donations from people like you! You may be wondering what the advantage of donating through our charity is. Because we buy our school supplies in bulk, we are able to cut down the prices of the backpacks exponentially, allowing us to donate a lot more backpacks to a lot more kids. For example, our standard 10 dollar backpack package if bought from regular retail stores would average to about 20-25 dollars! Currently, the organization operates and gives backpacks to kids in the United States, but we hope that we will soon be able to expand to third-world countries, where there is a lot more poverty and demand for backpacks. Our backpacks will be given to local welfare shelters and orphanages to students that will need essential school supplies.
Thank you so much for your time and donations! If you have any questions about our charity or goals please let us know here.
